Free time in Kipahulu Park
 

Following the work project we ate a picnic lunch in the park
and then it was off to do some hiking, first to Waimoku falls

Artform or Relaxation Therapy?
I was fascinated here at the base of the falls as well as at other places on the island by the proliferation of stacks of rocks.  They may be an outgrowth of cairns or trailside "ducks" as I generally call them.

After the visit to the falls we hiked back down the hill to the lower end of the park to
one of "the many pools at `Ohe`o" (erroneously called by many the "7 Pools")
where I captured this photo of Melody swimming in the cold, clear water:
